Sexual harassment prevention program for Indonesian nursing aides: a mixed-methods study

Available evidence suggests that sexual harassment is widespread among Indonesian nurse aids working overseas, however little research has been done on the topic. This study investigated effectiveness of prevention program for foreign nursing aides in long term care Taiwan. Average work experience was 54.8 months and 93% participants were female. We used mixed methods followed by a focus group. Quantitative data analyzed using Wilcoxon signed rank test. Most had higher post-test scores, indicating significant positive change their awareness about (effect size <em>r</em>=0.84). More correlated with less greater job satisfaction. Content analysis to analyze qualitative data. Four themes emerged from discussion: may not be intentional, perpetrators are male patients, communicating an effective timely manner important, personal safety concern. Although programs important aides, these should also include families, staff members at facilities. Further recommend Economic Trade Office Taiwan collaborate private agencies provide legal protection training issues.
